Documentation for Chronos Module Converter 1.01
Input formats :
Old PSM, New PSM, DSM, RIFF DSM, MTM, 15-31 ins. & 4-8 Chan. MOD's
Medium format is a .CCM (Chronos Conversion Module)
Output formats :
DSM, CCM, S3M
(New PSM is to be Implemented in the future)
Info on the PSM's
The PSM format is used by EPIC Megagames and since thier songs are
kinda nice, I like listening to them with DMP 4.00.
Info on the DSMIK or RIFF DSM
These module are located in certain games and demos with a certain
programming library which I know nothing about.
Info on the DSM format
DSM (Digital Sound Module)
DSM's are used in a musicdisk composed by a group called
Psychic Monks.
I tbink I've figured out these modules pretty well. Left no stone
unturned so to speak.
These were hard modules to crack seeing how the patterns were
encrypted.
If you converting to a DSM you'll lose initial panning positions
in which you have the option to set them up in the initial pattern
instead, also the TREMOR effect and the extra fine volume alides, and
set master volume.
Just goes to show if you're going to keep hackers out make your
PKLITEed files unPKLITEable and don't leave the symbol table
in you executables.
Info on the MTM format
Made by Multi-Tracker,and to my experience which never got past
version 1.00.
Request from the author
Proper documentation for both PSM formats.
If you can find me this I will Implement the proper format in my
CMC, because I hacked at the PSM formats for a long time and it
would be nice if I had proper docs, instead of hacking, thanks.
Requests from users
If you would like me to document any of the listed above formats,
if you have any questions regarding modules, or if you want me to
figure out a module format (hack it!).
You can email me at the Internet addresses listed at the end at
the document
Certain things you should now
When converting back and forth from DSM's take care with the panning
positions, take note that with each conversion the panning positions
can but not likely, degrade. ]
Also DSM's don't have the capablility of supporting octaves
greater than 4, that is why I've defaultly put pitch toning down.
so a C-3 is a C-1 in a DSM file in this case DSM files really range
the octaves C-2 - B-6
ok say you S3M file has notes below octave 2 then you can use
one of the conversion options listed below
Noost pitch control Level 1 [Y/N]
Noost pitch control Level 2 {Y/N]
any one of these applied will make the DSM really range C-1 - B-5
both of these applied will make the DSM really range from C-0 - B-4
but if you module uses more than 5 consecutive octaves you're hooped
